Comprehensive Mobility Surgery Evaluations for Children with Cerebral Palsy
Our two-day mobility surgery evaluation is for patients up to age 18. It is an excellent option for families who don’t live in the Cincinnati area and don’t have access to expert CP care close to home. During this visit, your child will see a pediatric:
- Neurosurgeon
- Orthopaedic surgeon
- Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine physician
Your child also will have a high-tech evaluation in the Motion Analysis Lab, which uses state-of-the-art technology to pinpoint the underlying contributors of walking difficulties. After all the evaluations are complete, the team will meet to discuss their recommendations and provide you with an individualized treatment plan that may include surgery.
We’ll schedule your child’s appointments in a well-coordinated manner. If you’re traveling to Cincinnati for the evaluation, the Cincinnati Children’s concierge services team can assist with travel and lodging. Our goal is to provide an efficient, effective and productive visit for your family.
Other Options for Children with Cerebral Palsy
Cincinnati Children’s offers different options for children who are unlikely to benefit from the two-day visit, including:
- Nonsurgical interventions for walkers and non-walkers alike — available in the Rehabilitation Medicine Cerebral Palsy Clinic.
- Orthopaedic surgeries that may be able to reduce pain and improve long-term abilities — available in our Orthopaedic Cerebral Palsy Clinic.
